You can see the video on the chinese section of new italia.it portal (Update March 2018: the page is no more there) (also uploaded on Youtube or embedded in this post). I know my (Macaronic) English is far away from perfect but I would expect a better message from our Vice President especially when he wants to convince people to come to Italy, and considering he has people working for him writing the text and he had the chance to film it as many times as he wanted. Actually after watching it, I feel too feeble for making any comment, so I’ll just write down what he said because I think I need to see the words to let them go.

UPDATE march 25, 2007:
Backstage of Rutelli video “Pliz, visit Itali”
Well, to a native U.S. English speaker, he just sounds like a guy with a great Italian accent. More like Marcello than macaroni. (I’d not heard that before.)
To another US English speaker, he sounds like a guy with a horrible Italian accent that doesn’t know English at all, reading (slowly) from phonetic cue cards (like that Totti Vodafon commercial “Laif eis Nau”)
Why does he want Chinese to come to italy?
didn’t the Italian government just passed a law to make it easier to kick out Romanians even if they r/almost EU members and so much nearer to italy.
well, politics is always a stage. he is just another monkey on it. ; )
Hilarious. Love it. By the way, doesn’t anybody else think that saying ‘Italy is the best country in the world in terms of culture’ is a tiny little bit, how shall I out this….arrogant? Don’t bite my head off!
I think with a better English you could be a bit provocative and arrogant … but with that English?!? Culture?!? Well, surely not the best country in the world in terms of Foreign Languages culture … ;(
