I remember being introduced at this “Multiple Discovery” pattern while reading a book about non-euclidean geometry, the pattern was related to the concurrent work of Bolyai and Lobachevsky. When I first read about this there was an introductive quote which I can’t recall precisely, however it was about a similitude between ideas and flowers (violets if get it right): for flowers there are seasons, when time is mature enough they freely bloom at the same time in different and distant places; the same holds for ideas, when times are ready ideas freely blossom at the same time in different and distant places.
